The man brings a unique players perspective to electronic music composition, adding nuance and dynamics to his sounds through delicate production and mixing techniques.

Lured to Sydney by the techno scene in 1993, Peret immersed himself in all forms and genres of music. As a professional DJ focused on scratching, hip hop and labels like Mo-Wax and Clear, Peret played alongside local talents such as Simon Caldwell, Ken Cloud and was co-resident with the much missed Illpikle at the infamous Globe for over two years.

Peret has supported everyone from Optimo, Charles Webster, Theo Parrish, DJ Krush, Blackalicious, and Craze as well as playing saxophone for Jamie Lidell’s live show in Sydney. He also scored the music for the Sydney Theatre Companys production of Mr. Kolpert and attended the 2004 Red Bull Music Academy in Rome representing Australia.

His production and mixing skills have seen him adding his touch to the music of Alphatown Collective, Nick Thayer, Bass Kleph, Swag, Prop, Deepchild, Kidzen, and Multiball – his remix for the latter being nominated for an Australian Dance Music Award.

Though a devoted hip-hop fan, Peret was never comfortable with the idea of sampling other musicians work, preferring a handmade approach. The techniques that evolved from these sonic meanderings form the basis of Peret’s sound. Fans of artists such as Matthew Herbert (who is a fan himself) and Henrik Schwarz will appreciated the MAKO sound. – The influences of hip hop, techno, jazz and deep house, amongst many others, are woven into a highly personalised style and that forms the foundations of the sublime sounds of PERET MAKO.
