DJ DAMEZA //
In a world filled with disposable music and dime-a-dozen DJ’s playing web rips off a USB stick, scratch DJ’s still using vinyl are few and far between. Bare witness to DJ Dameza shredding two records simultaneously and you’ll learn very quickly why he didn’t trade out his records for a portable hard drive.
Firstly, don’t let the ‘DJ’ in his title fool you; Dameza aka James Walsh is one multi talented individual, a renowned master on decks, esteemed producer and successful event promoter all rolled in to one. Undeniably best known for his live performances, Dameza charges up his audience with unlimited genre mixes; never shying away from the opportunity to balance the likes of electronica, 70’s funk and Hip-Hop.
His motto is simple: ‘If the music is good, I’ll play it.’
Dameza’s DJ rap sheet is long and diverse; landing 3rd place in the Australian DMC finals in 2006, receiving triple j’s ‘Next Crop’ selection in 2007 with Hip-Hop group mdusu&dameza, voted 2nd place in the 2008 Ozhiphop Awards ‘Best Club Set DJ’ category and in 2009 received a winning nod in the ABC Amplified Awards for ‘Best DJ’ and ‘Best Urban/Funk/Hip-Hop’ categories.
Always on the cusp of the latest in audio-visual technology, Dameza is a pioneer in the fine art of live video performances. Together with his brother VJ Sloth, Dameza formed Acumen – a combination of live DJ and Visual skills, taking influence from global sources, both past and present. As a result of Acumen’s inspiring and experimental visual and audio ventures, support slots rolled in for Pendulum, XZIBIT and Afrika Bambaataa, plus the duo received the first ever and rather awe-inspiring commissioned work to be used in conjunction with the Australian Symphony Orchestra. Not surprisingly, the talented siblings also received first place for ‘Electronic/Dance artist of the Year’ at the 2010 Amplified Awards.
His reputation has continued to spread, both Australia wide and internationally, leading to a vast array of coveted support acts for the likes of DJ Shadow, Grandmaster Flash, Q-Bert and Mixmaster Mike. His prowess in live DJ performances has also had eyes and ears pinned, with requests from such acts as Young MC, RA the Rugged Man and Paris Wells to back them up in live shows.
With an insatiable urge to stay a cut above the rest, Dameza sounds rings out worldwide and the best is surely yet to come.

SHOWCASE DEEJAY SET FROM MORGZ & SKOOB //
We welcome DJ Morgz from the Thundamentals down to showcase in the WAX WARS…
After years of well earned respect in the Australian Hip Hop scene and wider music community, hundreds of shows including almost every major music festival in the country and punctuated by sweat and smiles, three acclaimed releases including 2011 album Foreverlution’s #19 debut on the Australian ARIA chart, a jaw dropping live show and a fan base that grows exponentially every time one of their groove-laden songs lands on the radio (think ‘Smiles Don’t Lie’, ‘Something I Said’, ‘Brother’, ‘Paint The Town Red’ etc) – it’s fair to say that Blue Mountains via Newtown hip hop trio Thundamentals are an absolute mainstay. Clearly focused on the big picture, Thundas are all about using broad brush strokes on their ever-widening sonic canvas, never more evident than on their newest work, their Third LP ‘So We Can Remember’.
In the time since they first started work on beats and rhymes in their hometown of the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney, the three guys – MCs Tuka and Jeswon and DJ Morgs, all now based in inner-city Newtown – have been all about pushing themselves. With one foot firmly planted in Hip Hop history and the other kicking down the walls, they stride forward growing with them an army of loyal Thundakats and a vast and impressive catalogue of forward thinking songs.
It begins in 99′, when the strapping young lad witnessed the lock, stock and pull of scratching. “..the greatest thing on planet Earth.” Yep… even better than the things you think are special. That great, in fact, since the millennium the 21st century has seen Iain “DJ Skoob” Campbell lift roof and bring down slay dance-floor dragons… modestly. k?
…to be continued
On road and shared stage “Accolades” + Rise, fall, and continue to fall into party + other equally coin bank boss cracker boy stories.

LIVE ART FROM SWAZE
For those that don’t know, Swaze is a dope, highly skilled writer and for those that do know him well, he is an all round top bloke. Swaze has been travelling this little globe of ours regularly over the past couple of years…
Originally hailing from Sydney’s South Western suburbs, he has been painting since the late 90′s and has really become a regular around the Sydney graff scene. With his typical wild style lettering, he is also well known for painting the word SIZE. This artist always comes correct with a dope style and colour scheme, which catches the eye of all passers by.
Having visited and painted in a whopping 14 countries, hitting a total of 28 cities along the way, Swaze never leaves a city without leaving his mark throughout the town. He is a self confessed lover of the MTN 94 for most of his pieces, but says he also loves the Hardcore for its capability and quick night time application.
