Keep Sydney Open **Fundraiser** [SATURDAY – 30.07.2016]
***KEEP SYDNEY OPEN***
WE SUPPORT SAFE NIGHTS IN A GLOBAL CITY. WE SUPPORT LIVE MUSIC. OUR MISSION IS TO KEEP SYDNEY OPEN!
In February, 2014 the NSW State Government imposed a suite of restrictions on inner city venues including a 1.30am lockout. In response, Keep Sydney Open was formed by a variety of key Sydney live music and performance venues, cultural organisations, artists and music industry stakeholders, joining together to highlight the unfair imposition these tough laws have had on those who work and play in this city.
Crucial live music venues in Sydney have closed, several hundred jobs have been lost and the magic around our city is fading. All this for a minimal impact on violence, which was shown to be in decline since small-bar licenses were granted in 2008.
We have distinctly chosen to avoid any beer-barns, alcohol companies and liquor industry groups from our alliance, because we believe that there are better things about nightlife than just the consumption and sale of alcohol.
This is not about entertainment vs safety. We believe that both can be achieved simultaneously, and that our legislators have an obligation to preserve freedoms for law-abiding citizens while making a night out safer.

Mumbles is a Sydney based Producer/MC from the hip hop crew ‘Kosmic Culture’.

A shift in direction and a brand new project, Sydney’s most ambitious beat maker Waza returns with a single “Rocks and Bones”, featuring a dreamy new talent and foreshadowing a spectacular upcoming LP release.
2015 saw ‘The Art and Techniques Sessions’ come to light, an experimental story told through music in three parts. Such an aspiring project naturally attracted an impressive musical rap sheet, drawing love from all across the nation’s airwaves, with adds and appearances on triple j’s Breakfast Show and The Hip Hop Show, FBi, 2SER, 3RRR and Unearthed.
Shedding his hip-hop roots, “Rocks and Bones” sees Waza getting back to something a little more straight up sonic, but no less sensory. Placing emphasis on synth and melody the song is a treasure trove of lush production, polyrhythmic melodies and a massive beat that feels like it’s swinging from a pendulum, the cherry on top comes in the lavish vocals of Brisbane songstress Aquila Young. “Rocks and Bones” is just a taste of Waza’s upcoming LP ‘Crooked Jaw’ slated for release in 2016.
One can describe DJ Adverse as a ‘multifaceted creative engineer’ but will humbly refuse any such title. DJ Adverse’ expertise lends itself to video editing, music production, rapper, branding and marketing, in addition to his flawless in demand unique mixing style and charismatic showmanship.
A favourite crowd party rocker and music trendsetter, DJ Adverse (co-founding member of The Groove Dealers) started out in the early 2000’s as one of the original radio hosts at community radio station Triple H 100.1FM. Adverse further expanded his talents and became a leading MC for Booty Bar Australia, which took him touring across the country with Booty Bar founder and Accredited ARIA award winner DJ Lenno. It was around this time that Adverse co-founded The Groove Dealers and helped form and write music for Australian Hip Hop Group Unison and LP and The Architects.
Over the last 5 years, under the banner The Groove Dealers, Adverse started running an annual snow tour at Falls Creek snowfields to capacity crowds with some of The Groove Dealers team and fellow party rockers, DJ CMAN, Juzzlikedat, Carratgold, VJ Spook, Makoto, Louie Headnod and MC Noodlez.
