Innersoul Live **LIVE ACOUSTIC SOUL**[TUESDAY – 24.02.2015]
Welcome to the next edition of Innersoul Live. We have 2 very special artists for this up-coming show, Nada-Leigh & Perth artist Shameem…
Nada-Leigh is one of those artists that can sing anything you throw at them. The Electronic Diva mixes the influences of House with the ability and acrobatics of RnB vocals.
Think: “contagious house music meets a dirty and full of attitude Mariah Carey”. This powerhouse made her debut into Australian TV sets when she first appeared in the Aussie version of the X Factor series with her girl group “Element”. Even in those early days, while learning the ropes and getting her confidence on stage, Nada-Leigh impressed the audiences enough to secure her a spot in the very competitive Bootcamp stages of the competition and get a request from the judges to return the following year.
Despite the brief media exposure, that was enough to get heads turning for Nada, plus get Element some exciting reviews and following from fans from all over the Country. A year later, Nada-Leigh returned to the competition as a solo performer with the power and confidence of a well-seasoned artist. Her incredible range and unbelievable presence got the Judges to pick her as one of the members of the show’s very own Girl Group “XOX”. Her powerful performances got her and the group a spot in the
Top 10 finalists in the competition. The 21 year old’s contagious energy and sassy attitude has charmed the Australian public and she is now ready to take over the world ‘one.song.at.a.time’. “Nada, those vocals nobody’s done them on X Factor before EVER! ”… “you can sing.” – Dannii Minogue
“You are the complete Pop Star, you’ve got the look, you know how to command the stage… you are a threat in this competition” – Ronan Keating
“You are an intelligent artist and I can work with that!” “It was phenomenal… I love that” – Red Foo (LMFAO).
Born in Australia to a Chinese-Malaysian father and an Iranian mother, this bubbly vocalist and songwriter enchants her audiences with her heartfelt, personal stories, socially conscious messages and spiritual influences in her songs. The diversity of her heritage has not only contributed to Shameem’s exotic looks but has influenced her distinctive eclectic approach to music. Her unique fusion of 90s R&B grooves with the melodic sensibility of 70s soul and a subtle twist of jazz has seen her frequently compared to such artists as Alicia Keys, Sade and Michael Jackson.
2015 is an exciting year for Shameem, who has just released her sophomore album The Second City and will be undertaking a national Australian tour as well as international performances over the coming months. The Second City includes the singles “Beautiful Soul”, which was awarded 4th place in the Australian Songwriting Contest Contemporary Pop/ Dance category, and “Under One Sun”, which was written in collaboration with Grammy-winning producer James Bryan (Nelly Furtado, Olly Murs, James Morrison).
A self-managed, independent artist, Shameem keeps a busy performance schedule, having supported major international artists such as George Benson, Ronan Keating and Belinda Carlisle, and undertaken headlining tours in both her native Australia and in the USA and Canada. Tracks from Shameem’s 2011 debut album have proven popular with community radio stations around Australia as well as USA college radio, and have been recognised in the finals of the Independent Music Awards and Australian Songwriting Contest. Meanwhile, her track “Turn It On”, recorded in collaboration with Tokyo-based producer Nick Wood, is enjoying growing popularity having been synced to a major TV advertising campaign in Western Australia.
When Shameem sings she speaks directly to the hearts of her audience; her voice is at once warm, soulful and expressive, and none can walk away without a tune replaying in their head. Shameem is passionate about uplifting and inspiring people to work for the betterment of the world through her music.
