What is INNERSOUL LIVE @ PLAY BAR going to be all about?
Innersoul Live is an exclusively secured event space for people in the Entertainment Industry to come in, enjoy, relax, and most of all appreciate good music.
Our entertainer’s are carefully selected to cater for the strict genres of music we are going to be performing. Only giving gratitude and thanks to the origins and classics of our times, with everything from Aretha Franklin to Jodeci, Jill Scott to Marvin Gaye and J Dilla to John Legend, without forgetting such classics as Bob Marley to RUN DMC.
Our aim is to take you way back to the sweet sound of soul, incorporating that with the funky sound of reggae and transitioning to the best beats of Rhythm and Blues, at a venue that is engulfed with the atmosphere and culture that urban music today, in Australia, has been aching for.
BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE…
Unlike our competition in the industry, our unique purpose will not only be to support a newly flourishing culture, but to also play a key role in it’s development and evolution.
We wish to provide the urban music community, here in Sydney, with a venue and event that will provide a platform for all members of this culture to meet, greet and showcase the love they have for the art.
From Live performances on a bi-weekly basis from Sydney’s raw unseen talent, collaboration events, bringing the arts, such as photography & street art (Graffiti) together as well as Web designers, publicists, managers, musicians, producers and all industry heads, bringing forth our own family of dynamic individuals into the one space simply for the unconditional love we all have for our Roots and what we see is possible for our future.
So come down and lets celebrate for the past, for the present and for all that’s to come in our future’s.
JAMES CHATBURN //
James Chatburn is a singer, songwriter and producer from Newcastle, encompassing a style that is hard to describe. A mixture of acoustic, soul, blues and folk music, this young man has meshed influences from a wide variety of musical styles to create music which does not fit into any mould. His influences span from Corinne Bailey Ray to Bonnie Raitt, John Mayer to Ben L’oncle Soul.
In 2010 he released his debut EP “Sickness and Health”, blending the influences of his love for both folk and soul. Since then he has been tucked away, developing a style all his own, giving the world a sneak peek of his grasp of genres with his project “Scrapbook Sessions”.
2014 heralds the making his self produced EP, a cacophony of sexy new sounds.
His achievements include having shared the stage with the likes of Rai Thistlewaitt (Thirsty Merc), and supported acts such as Keb Mo, Katie Noonan (George), Ian Moss (Cold Chisel), Tim Finn, Diesel, Brian Cadd, Richard Clapton (Daddy Cool), Bobby Flynn, Mia Dyson, 1927, gangajang, The Black Sorrows, Ross Wilson, John Waters and The Bondi Cigars.
DANIEL MARCH //
In July of 2012 Daniel quit his job, left his hometown and took a leap of faith and went to the USA, where he played some shows in NYC (Rockwood Music Hall) and in ATL (Eddie’s Attic, Smiths Olde Bar) and he also had the privilege of meeting some of his heroes from The Roots to The Impressions and some of his favourite producers such as Jamey Jaz.
He has just finished recording his full length album “Love Castle Dreams” in Atlanta with some of his favourite musicians and singers such as DOME records’ Khari Cabral Simmons (Donnie, India Arie), Chantae Cann (India Arie’s Backing vocalist), Landon Anderson (Anthony David, Frank McComb, Fabolous), Daz-I-Kue (Bugz in the attic), Nick Rosen and Julie Dexter (UK). The album was released on April 14th 2013. It showcases 9 brand new tracks that March describes as “having a common thread, a consistency in sound, i feel as though i have matured as an artist and these songs are like my first CD or something, they have the DM stamp on it, and i am very fortunate to have worked with the people i did on the record.”
