BRAD BALOO – THE NEXTMEN [UK] //
Music for the perfect party whether a sweaty styled-out club set, colossal festival-smash or a crafty roof-top hottie beardy rebrand, doesn’t come from a swipe right to cutesy playlists from app-land capitalist pop-culture debris. This is serious shit. No one wants their good time held to ransom by some faux-faced numpty. They want their blocks to rock, they want their limbs to go wavy, they want the good groove to soak into their bones until yes is the only answer to every question. Hold yourself to higher standards people. We’ll be dead soon.
The Nextmen could offer you a musical masterclass in people pleasing but you’d be too busy dancing your ass off to take notes. Ask Richard Branson who he calls to smash a party, or MTV or the Cannes Film Festival, or any stage on any festival from Glasto to Bestival , Lovebox, every Notting Hill Carnival since forever, Big Chill, T In The Park, or Let Them Eat Cake. Or a club, any club, from Fabric to The Warehouse Project to Black Dog Ballroom, YoYo, Space Ibiza, Electric Ballroom, Womb Tokyo, Egg, Lux, or The Prince in Melbourne – and these boys have happily crushed said dancefloors into oblivion.
This is the best of times, tunes are endless, mastery of turntablism & musical innovation resound, future classics crumble genres so why waste your time with vapid buffoonery when The Nextmen know what time it is and will wield your crew into blissed out masses who just want to kick back or kick up with big boss tunes to revel in some musical joy. The Nextmen, also known as Brad Baloo and Dom Search are DJs and producers/songwriters, and are
eclectic to say the least. Modern pop? It’s a nutriblend of musical abandon – dancehall, drum’n’bass, reggae, roots, instrumental and actual hip hop, soul and soulful low-end boomp, funk & uk funky, indie, leftfield, ambient, pop and straight-up jars-up pleasers. That’s The Nextmen.
Collectively their recent productions have been to wield their magic for others, having written multi platinum releases for artists including Wilkinson, Etherwood, Sam Smith, Maverick Sabre, Becky Hill, Anne Marie (Rudimental), Paul Epworth, Paulo Nutini, Kiko Bun, Eliza Doolittle, Louis Mattrs, Slo, Karen Harding, Little Mix, Leona Lewis, Ella Henderson, Tommy Trash and so on. This keeps their diaries pretty hectic. Historically they’ve released critically and commercially acclaimed The Nextmen albums on 75 Ark, Scenario, Antidote, Universal, and have worked with too many to mention – Rizzle Kicks, Plan B, Public Enemy, Blackalicious, Roni Size, Daddy G, Rodney P, The Pharcyde and Morcheeba, Sway, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Alice Russell, Dynamite MC, Kidz In The Hall, Jamaican legends Cutty Ranks, Niney The Observer and Demolition Man, Faithless etc etc etc.
Their ongoing podcast series has had hundreds of thousands of downloads and continues as a much devoured gift to the globe and spikes up to number 1 on the iTunes chart with every instalment.
They have big plans afoot – another album, a pop-up party tour, the resurrection of their beloved bootleg mixtapes and much more. Get your ears open and ready. Enjoy.

SHAN FRENZIE //
Frenzie has been around the block more than a few times. He’s got well over twenty years of experience behind him, a record collection that will make any deejay envious, and a concrete rep as one of Australia’s most trusted party rockers. Taking inspiration from when DJ’s used to play for no less than 6 hours straight and transition between styles: Original Soul & Funk 45′s – check. Deep House, Disco & Boogie – check. Hip Hop, R&B, Breaks & Beats – check. Party anthems and forgotten classics – check. Frenzie has got you covered.
His Groove Therapy radio show (now in it’s eleventh year) has been broadcasting weekly on 2SER FM every Friday lunchtime and has become an essential listen to all musically savvy Sydney-siders, while the podcast of the show has garnered a huge loyal fan base in all corners of the globe.
A veteran touring DJ of the Australian east coast, Frenzie also recently rocked dance floors in San Francisco and New York – and has had support billing alongside a who’s who of DJ royalty. Infact, pioneering deejay Grandmaster Flash requested Frenzie as his official support DJ for his most recent 2013 Sydney tour (four shows in total) – and only months earlier, Frenzie could be seen cutting it up on the turntables on stage with New Yorks Hip Hop legends The Ultramagnetic MC’s.
…and it’s no small wonder – Frenzie definitely has the skills to pay the bills. In 2012 he placed second in the New South Wales heats of the DMC, the most prestigious DJ competition in the world (He’s last foray into battle deejaying was almost twelve years earlier).
But can he rock a party? Frenzie has been dropping memorable sets for years. Whether it be a one hour power mix or an all night marathon set behind the turntables, Frenzie has plenty of experience reading the crowd and always drops an entertaining set – custom built from carefully considered quality jams and a dash of turntable trickery. Not only can Frenzie mix a record, he has definitely earned his stripes as the number one chief party rocker.
BENNY HINN //
Benny Hinn (Daniel Robertson) began spinnin’ vinyl back in 01′ playing a range of phat funky house and some chunky big assed broken beats for the masses… Although now only 34, the Hinns has played at some of the finer establishments, parties and festivals around Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns, Spain, Wollongong and the South coast, gaining a rep az a bit of a party starter and one with some def skillz, finesse and sheer artistry on a pair of 1200s.
The Hinn has also toured with the MOS Label for an Annual release and has supported many artists such as, The Stanton Warriors, Freq Nasty, Krafty Kuts, A.Skillz, Jay Jay, Sneaky Sound System, The Resin Dogs, Katalyst, Sarah Love, Shortee Blitz, Frenzie, Total Eclipse, Mr. Doris, Cool Hand Luke, Normski, DJ Katch, DJ A.$.K, DJ KC, Edseven, Inkswel, Omegaman, Busta, Koolism, [love] Tattoo, Mark Dynamix, Ajax [RIP], Bang Gang, Goodwill, Alex Taylor, Funktrust, Purple Sneaker DJs + many many more…
Benny has also been dipping into a little production here and there with a few little mashes and beats all up on his soundcloud & mixcloud page & is host of the Radio Program Sydney Underground on Bondi Beach Radio.
His latest venture has been building and establishing PLAY BAR SYDNEY. After drawing inspiration from his last stint in Melbourne and meeting his partner & co-owner Sarah, the two worked hard to build what they hope to be for many years to come, an institution that brings decent music into Surry Hills Sydney. He has programmed every bit of music that has come through the venue and supported a huge range of hiphop, breakbeat DJs and just awesome beat-makers and producers both local and abroad…
