BILLIE McCARTHY

BILLIE McCARTHY

Billie McCarthy is a country girl who took the jazz bus to the city and had a dirty love affair in a back lane with Neo Soul.

Billie McCarthy is a unique smoky brew of jazz diva, soul songstress, folk balladeer and cabaret comedienne.

Resonating with Billie Holiday, Jill Scott, Joni Mitchell and Blossom Dearie.

The result is a soulful, edgy and intimate music which transfixes the audience with her passion, presence and style.

Hailing from Tamworth, and the daughter of country and blues musicians. As an infant Billie had absorbed her mothers eclectic vinyl collection. It was little surprise she was singing Sophie Tucker blues at 3 and writing to Dolly Parton at 6.

Billie is now one of Sydney’s most popular singers and workshop presenters. She has collaborated with several international and local acts including New Soul sensation ‘Omar’ and hip hop legend ‘Charli 2na’.

Billie has been seen at Java Soul Nation Festival (Jakarta) , Byron Bay Blues and Roots Festival, Brisbane Festival, Moorambilla Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, Sydney Festival and on ABC Classic FM.
