Every now and then the stars align perfectly for an artist to allow them to shine bright. One such artist is Jordan Rakei. Since appearing seemingly out of nowhere back in early 2013, Rakei has seen his star rise and rise. From receiving lashings of love from SoulBounce and LA based music collective Soulection to support slots with legends like Charles Bradley and festival performances alongside Robert Glasper, there seems to be no limit to the heights Rakei will reach.
Fresh from playing the Malasimbo Festival in the Philippines, Jordan Rakei sat down with me for an intimate chat at Sydney’s home of hip-hop and soul, PLAY BAR. He also blessed us with a live acoustic performance of the track, “My Time” off his EP, Franklin’s Room.
